Bio: Elisa Dias Sweigart, now and hereafter being referred to by her Spiritual name, Raminderpreet Kaur, was born and raised in the LA area. In passing, she has worked in the Entertainment Industry as well as Vocational Rehabilitation. Raminderpreet is fully bilingual in English/Spanish and has worked extensively within the Hispanic community in all the fields in which she has participated.
In time, Raminderpreet found Yoga and discovered the therapeutic properties contained within this practice, not only from the physical perspective, but also mental/emotional and spiritual.
Raminderpreet completed her Bachelor’s at UCLA in World Arts and Culture and followed this up with her training from Yoga Works as a Yoga Instructor, at which point Urban Yogini was born in 2000. Raminderpreet has further advanced her career, earning her Master’s Degree in Spiritual Psychology from The University of Santa Monica, August, 05 and is an active member of Yoga Alliance and the International Association of Yoga Therapists.
Since the inception of her practice she has expanded her teachings to reflect the lessons she has integrated into her own life, having developed her own unique program, which she calls LIFE SKILLS YOGA.
Raminderpreet's career has taken hold over the years working from the therapeutic perspective with a variety of clients. She has worked extensively with seniors of varying stages of health and strength, individuals experiencing fibromyalgia, diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis and Cancer.
Raminderpreet has been providing her Yoga therapy services, almost exclusively since 2003, within the Cancer Community at various hospitals, clinics and support centers. A large part of this community includes the mostly underserved Monolingual Hispanic community.
Raminderpreet Kaur holds group Yoga sessions which she has specifically over the years, developed with the needs of Cancer patients, and their caregivers, in mind. She also offers Guided Imagery and visualization to patients as they are receiving chemo infusion therapies.
Patients have reported relief from the pain and nausea related to chemotherapy and radiation, as well as relief from pain/discomfort of lymphedema. Some patients are able to regain mobility and flexibility associated with surgeries, or simply discover being in their bodies for the first time, learning to explore their breath and a sense of well-being. Many patients also find the opportunity to find a direction from which to let go of fears associated with the disease and often uncover the opportunity from which to live from a new and fresh perspective.
Raminderpreet is available to anyone in the Greater Los Angeles area who desires an opportunity to relieve stress, improve strength and flexibility, while exploring the ability to listen and respond to the body's cues for learning, promoting health and well-being.
