How Does Urban Yogini Teach?: Raminderpreet's classes are based on the Iyengar method
of practice. Iyengar is a teacher and a healer from India
whose primary emphasis is on the proper
alignment of the body. The alignment is
considered essential for energy to flow freely
throughout the body, promoting strength and
flexibility, while practicing in such a way to avoid
injury.
The breath
and its relationship to movement, are essential
in all forms of Yoga. Poses may vary from heat
building, which can increase heart rate and
focus on building strength, to cooling poses,
which lower the heart rate and focus on flexibility.
Raminderpreet has developed a unique program (LIFE SKILLS YOGA) which incorporates her Spiritual Psychology training (MA-USM '05) into the practice as a tool for addressing the mental/emotional aspects of the self which can reflect in stress, injuries and/or illness in the body
Raminderpreet combines knowledge and experience with intuitive compassion to balance the need for proper physical alignment as a means of both healing and preventing injuries, while creating a practice that simultaneously challenges and honors each person's unique physical capabilitites |
